Meet the Organizers
Ece Tuglu (A21)
VOLUNTEER AND OPERATIONS MANAGER
Ece is a groovy young Turk making it in Annapolis. When she’s not reading John Berger or Aeschylus, she enjoys discussing middle eastern politics and beating Rediet in Harry Potter trivia. On a nice day she can be found volunteering at Planned Parenthood, and learning new ways to make iced coffee, on a bad day. If you see her, don’t ask her if they rides camels in Turkey. They don’t.
Yunju Park (A20)
HEAD OF DESIGN
In 2016, she opened her eyes toward the world of language; in 2017, she opened her eyes toward the world of space; and in 2019, she opened her eyes toward the world of music. These three worlds are always mingling inside of Yunju and give her the desire to create things. She loves cities, trees, and people—always ready to work for them. This year is her fourth year of questioning matters such as love, the universe, and parallelism at St. John’s College.
Andrew Hill (A21)
Andrew brings six months of social business, one year of government, 4 years of political, and 15 years of unemployment experience to the TEDxStJohnsCollege team. As the co-curator, he hopes to build a bridge between Johnnies and the world, over which Johnnies can go to showcase their goods (ideas), and the world can, in turn, see what’s across that bridge, and send back their young for education. He likes Sabahattin Ali and H.G. Wells. His favorite program authors are Machiavelli, Montaigne, and Cervantes.
Avi Kumar (A21)
Avi's passion for humanity’s greatest ideas drew him to the Great Books Program. Having completed his primary and secondary education in India and Singapore respectively, he hopes to broaden his horizons by living and working in more countries. He is also deeply interested in consulting and investment banking. After graduation, he aspires to use his liberal arts background to help the largest companies and organizations in solving the most complex problems.
